Top 7 Auckland Beaches

We love Auckland and it’s fair to say so do our residents. The warm weather, amazing views and cultural diversity are amazing to experience, as are our beautiful beaches. We’d love to share with you what we believe are the top seven Auckland beaches in no particular order:

1.         Mission Bay beach – one of Auckland’s most popular beaches, Mission Bay beach backs onto Selwyn Domain, home of one of the region’s most photographed fountains. There are plenty of restaurants to enjoy here also.

2.         Piha Beach – famous for having its own TV lifeguard show, Piha Beach is known for its black sand and top surfing waves, both dominated by the famous Lion rock. It does have some well-known rips, so be sure to swim between the flags.

3.         Oneroa Beach – catch a boat ride over to Waiheke Island for the day to visit the beautiful Oneroa beach. Enjoy an ice cream or a coffee from the nearby village centre.

4.         Orewa Beach – measuring an impressive three kilometres in length, and only 30 minutes’ drive north of downtown Auckland, Orewa beach is stunning. Beautiful sand and calm waves make this a popular choice with families.

5.         Browns Bay beach – located over the Harbour Bridge, Browns Bay beach has calm surf, a nearby playground and grassy area to enjoy.  Popular with families, this beach has a friendly vibe to it.

6.         Takapuna Beach – great for those living and working within the CBD, Takapuna Beach is only a 10-minute drive away. White sand, calm water and the nearby shops and cafes make it tempting to take the afternoon off from work and enjoy what this beach has to offer.

7.         Cheltenham Beach – located across the harbour in Devonport, Cheltenham Beach has a Victorian feel to it due to the local village architecture. As well as being located close to shops and cafes, you’ll also find this beach offers great views of the harbour and surrounding islands.
